Gorham H408 Floral Month August Poppy 4 Sterling Silver Spoons 5 3/4 RARE
Gorham H408 Floral Month August Poppy 4 Sterling Silver Spoons. 5 3/4 123 grams total weight. There are normal surface marks, scratches, wear and tarnish commensurate with age. One spoon has a tiny bent spot on the rim of the bowl that doesn’t show in photographs. All 4 bowls have some minor rough edges. Otherwise, there are no major imperfections visible to my eye. Dark marks are reflections. Sterling is sent as-is for you to polish, if desired. These have been well-kept and probably don’t need any polishing. One spoon has a monogram on the front, and 1917 engraved on the back. Marks: Old Gorham lion, anchor, G marks, Sterling H408. Gorham Silver Company began releasing’flower of the month’ spoons around 1900. These spoons are marked H408 as shown in a 1909 catalog (pictured) in the August Poppy pattern – a beautiful Art Nouveau design. Only these spoons were released in this pattern. Cowrie Shell Spoon Rare Georgian Sterling Silver Date 1817 Quality Antique
Rare Antique Georgian Cowrie Shell Spoon. This is a fantastic rare solid sterling silver spoon in fantastic condition dated 1817. On the top of the handle is a monogram with the initials’l. The cowrie shell spoon has a gorgeous purpley white sheen on the inside of the shell and the outside is a speckled cream over brown. When this spoon was made this type of shell would not have been available in England and would have been a huge extravagance to the owner. There is a full British hallmark on this spoon with the leopard’s head for the London assay office, the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter’b’ 1817. There is also a sponsors mark’SR IED’ for the maker Solomon Royes & John East Dix. CONDITION: The condition is Excellent considering the age of the item. DATE/MARK: There is a FULL BRITISH HALLMARK showing the LEOPARD’S HEAD of the LONDON assay office, the Lion Passant for. Sterling silver and the date letter’b’ 1817.
