This age is based on the M. Galt & Brother label on the inside of the lid of the wonderful, hinged case. The case is in remarkable condition. The knife still retains its original gold wash. There are some light scratches; however, they are very light, and may be due to some over-zealous polishing/cleaning by a previous owner. The knife measures 8 1/8, 20.3 cm, and weighs 1.54 ozt. The spoon is 7 3/8, 18.7 cm, long, and weighs 1.04 ozt, 32.3 gm. The picture shows some spotting in the bowl; however, that is due to reflection. It is in great condition. A very knowledgeable collector told us rather confidently that the knife was a’salad knife’. A well-known dealer describes it as a cheese knife because of the little notch at the end of the knife blade. That is strictly decorative, and it shows up on many pieces of Isis. This is really marvelous set regardless of what the purposes of the two implements are. Don’t miss out! Please see our other fine silver by Gorham, Tiffany, Durgin, Whiting, and others.
